This was the first concert of the Festival, and thus the first in Llanfyllin since Peter Carter's retirement. The audience was therefore particularly curious and anticipatory, looking forward to the Llanfyllin debut of the new first violin, Daniel Rowland, who was introduced by Chairman Victor Lane. It rapidly became obvious that Daniel is a worthy successor to Peter and his predecessors - some truly breathtaking playing. Each of the pieces was met with rapturous and prolonged applause.
We were even treated to an encore - Puccini's Crisantemi.
