2006

2006 promises to be a rewarding year for the Festival and for music lovers in general. We celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart and the centenary of the birth of Shostakovich.

The dates of the 2006 Festival are:

at our much loved venue of St. Myllin's Church.

As always, the Allegri Quartet are providing us with a varied programme which will include

And, as highlights,

It is always a pleasure to welcome the Quartet and we are particularly pleased to have the present Quartet with the added delight of Bruno Schrecker and Peter Carter which maintains our link with old friends and founder members of the Festival.

You will be pleased to note that the Festival is back in its traditional place at the beginning of July, extending the opportunity for hearing outstanding performances with the beginning of the holiday season. Warm summer evenings enhance our enjoyment as we are able to meet members of the Quartet and renew concert acquaintances whilst we take our refreshments in the attractive surroundings of the Church grounds, - or visit a hostelry in town! We look forward to meeting old friends and hope that you will introduce new listeners to the delights of our Festival.

With greetings from the committee,

Terry Postings
(Chairman)
